Land of rural traditions

True authentic island, Marie-Galante is a land of rural traditions which cultivates a peaceful art of living. Marie-Galante turns out to be the new destination of the French Antilles today. Covering an area of 158 km², the island, which is more commonly called the "large pancake" in relation to its circular shape and its low relief (ndr, the highest peak, the constant dreary peaks at 204m) , has three municipalities and 12,410 inhabitants. Marie-Galante which counted up to 106 mills is also called "the island of a hundred mills" or the "Great dependence".

Marie-Galante, arrival island of this transatlantic, will welcome the fleet as it should and will then allow a fabulous starting point for those who want to explore the other islands of Guadeloupe!

The arrival of the Rally will take place in the bay of Saint-Louis, on the leeward coast of the island of Marie-Galante. On site, meet at the HQ of the event on the beach of Saint-Louis, feet in the water and taste freely the pleasures of this land of tranquility.

"Saint-Louis is a small rural town of 3000 souls, the largest in Marie-Galante. Its past is rich in events, its Caribbean heritage does indeed exist and it still retains traces of ancestral life (survival of old trades , charcoal, small cane mills, ox carts and especially the traditional character and the hospitality of its population), it is to better bear witness to future generations by the teachings and the messages than these convey. "

Major Partner of the Rallye des Iles du Soleil

The Land of Marie-Galante was born out of the will of local politicians to initiate a Development Plan thanks to the creation, on January 18, 1994, of the Community of Communes of Marie-Galante (CCMG). The Mayors of the three municipalities of the island: Capesterre-de-Marie-Galante, Grand Bourg and Saint Louis then undertake to take up the challenge of upgrading infrastructure and economic development, solidarity, resorption unemployment and control of space in a context of respect for the environment and sustainability.

The Community of Communes of Marie-Galante supports the Rallye des Iles du Soleil and offers logistical and organizational assistance on their territory.

Marie-Galante attracts, year after year, lovers of authenticity and nature. The BIELLE Agricultural Distillery may have something to do with it!

Indeed, this distillery, which perpetuates this old tradition of manufacturing agricultural rum with pure sugar cane juice, is the only Caribbean rum production unit to comply with environmental regulations by a particular method of processing his vinasses.

The Bielle distillery supports the Rallye des Iles du Soleil and provides logistical and technical assistance to Marie-Galante.
The schooner Bielle transports rum from the Antilles to Europe in the old-fashioned way and thus allows dynamic aging of the product. The ship Bielle participated in the Rally many times in order to cross the Atlantic and find its home port, in Marie-Galante.
